Pyro- Sector 34, Chandigarh

A place redone with a newly designed menu and the old mexican vibes, Pyro has recently opened in the Piccadily Square, Sector 34, Chandigarh in place of the earstwhile Maverick. This is a cozy place which will make you fall in love with their interiors. So whenever you go for a movie next time at piccadily, this is a must try place to chill with your gang.

The interiors of Pyro give the vibes of a Mexican countryside with lots of use of wood and rugged upholstery. It also has a bar in the center with a dj and a stage for gigs.

Coming to the menu, they have a wide selection of cuisines, serving Indian, Continental and Chinese, making it a perfect place for small parties. The drinks however were too sugary and didn’t work well but you can ask for customization. The food here was just the usual, nothing fancy but some dishes worked good. Highly recommend their chicken cheese rolls which were liked by my friends.

I Had:

Soups: Soups were basic and nice. I tried Lemon Coriander soup and Cream of Broccoli Soup. I liked the cream of broccoli soup a lot, creamy, thick and full of broccoli. The lemon coriander soup was basic vegetable soup with lots of lemon, lemongrass and coriander.

Paneer Tikka: This was the usual paneer tikka and tasted average. The flavours were well balanced and the portions were big.

Cottage Cheese Burger: A big burger with the option of single and double paneer patty. I had the one with double patties. The paneer patties were huge chunks of paneer, breaded and fried but were a bit bland. However, the sauces balanced it a bit. It was served with a side of fris and dips. Recommended if you love paneer.

Pyro Special Veg Pizza: The pizza was nicely baked and the crust was fresh. It had bell peppers, onions, mushrooms & olives with lots of cheese.

Kofta Curry: The koftas were well prepared too. The gravy was white onion and cashew based, flavoured with saffron and finished with cream. The kofta balls were paneer based. Highly Recommended in vegetarian mains.

Indian Breads: I tried lachha parantha, butter naan and missi roti, all of which were good.

Cous Cous Veg: A decent healthy dish but the flavours of the components failed to match well. It had a vegetable and couscous base topped with a layer of avocado salsa and tomato sauce on the side.

Drinks: Tried some of their shakes, smoothies and mocktails. The brownie shake and the oreo shake were really nice, aptly thick, lots of chocolate and rightly sweet. The mojito was also nice and well balanced. The Peach on the beach mocktail was fruity and refreshing too. However the coffee tasted average. The raspberry orange smoothie was a big fail and tasted extremely pungent, would recommend avoiding it.

Blueberry Apple Crumble: The crumble was nicely baked with lots of oats, apples and some blueberries, well balanced with sugar and a hint of cinnamon. It was served topped with scoops of vanilla ice cream. A perfect warm and cold dessert.

  • Service: 3.5
  • Price: 3.75

Recommendations: Cream of broccoli soup, Cottage cheese burger, Kofta curry, Shakes, Peach on the beach, Blueberry apple crumble and Chicken cheese rolls for non vegetarians.

Meal for 2: 1500/-

The place is a must try serving some decent food with big portions.
The interiors are lovely giving a feel of Mexican cafes. The pricing is on a bit higher side but the vibes of the ambiance lessen the pain.
The quality of the ingredients used was fresh and the flavours were coming through. The drinks however need improvement but would recommend trying the ones I’ve mentioned. The service was however a bit slow but the food served was warm and fresh.
