The concept of Sunday brunches is slowly gaining popularity in the city day by day. Restaurants and hotels around the city are coming up with lavish brunch spreads and the newest one in the league is Sparkling Black Lotus Sunday Brunch at the Black Lotus by Taj.

The ambiance of black lotus has a lot off use black, red and gold with beautiful lighting to liven up. Adding up to this was the live music performance. The brunch is served on the table along with mocktails/ cocktails and is having decent options for vegetarians.

Things I tried:

Soup (4.25/5): The soup was Asparagus, haricot beans & corn soup, It was very light on the palette with fresh flavors. We were served a refreshing infusion of rosemary as the welcome drink, followed by bartender’s special mocktails.

Salad (4.25/5): Water chestnut, bell peppers & cucumber tossed in a light dressing. again very refreshing.

Appetizers (4.5/5): Crisp fried broccoli & baby corn in chili sauce, an upgraded version of chili cauliflower, was spicy and the veggies were crisp. Crisp corn kernels, crisp spinach, mildly spicy and tangy crisp fried corn kernels along with crisp fried spinach. Wok tossed water chestnut in burnt garlic sauce, my absolute favorite. Crispy water chestnuts in tossed a burnt garlic sauce, gooey, crisp & garlicky, perfect for garlic lovers.

Dim Sums (4.75/5): It was a dim sum basket with 3 types of dim sums being spinach, burnt garlic & chedder dim sums, water chestnut, celery & broccoli dim sums, vegetable & sesame oil dim sums. The spinach, burnt garlic & cheddar dim sums were my favorite. The vegetable sesame oil dim sums were on slightly spicier side.

Main Course (4.75/5): The main course was a lovely oriental spread with freshest ingredients. Stir fried snow peas, lotus stem, asparagus, mushrooms in garlic sauce was fresh and light on palette. Mushroom trio in butter & black pepper sauce was spicy and rich. Mapo tofu was perfectly prepared with soft and buttery silken tofu pieces in a tangy and lightly spiced sauce. My favorite in the mains was Eggplant, peppers & haricot beans in chili sauce. The eggplants were cooked to perfection, I couldn’t stop eating it.

Grills (4.5/5): In the grills we had grilled button mushrooms coriander pepper which was tasted perfect. Perfectly grilled mushrooms with richness of butter, freshness of coriander, sharpness of pepper & smokey undertones. We had Vegetable hakka noodles & butter garlic fried rice as the sides for mains and grills.

Desserts (3.5/5): The dessert spread was very big with some beautiful deserts any child would love to have. Though the desserts lacked behind on the taste front but the mud cake slice tasted very rich and decadent. To finish off the brunch, I had Jasmine Tea.
